What happens during teething?
If you are getting your teeth whitened, you will first need to make two to three visits to the dentist’s office.
The dentist will feel your teeth to make a mouth guard and explain to you how to use it with the whitening gel. Then, using your mouthpiece at home, you apply the gel regularly for a specific period of time over a few weeks. Some whitening gels can be left on for up to 8 hours at a time, which can shorten the healing time.
Laser cleaning, also known as power whitening, is another type of teeth whitening procedure that can be provided by a dentist. A whitening product is applied to your teeth, then a light or laser is shined on it to activate the whitening. Laser cleaning takes about an hour.
Is teeth whitening permanent?
Teeth whitening is not permanent. This can last from a few months to three years and varies from person to person.
If you smoke or drink red wine, tea or coffee, the whitening effect will not last long and may damage your teeth.
